Who needs a 90 or 120-minute door?
These ratings come from the fire strategy for specific rooms rather than general building use. Common cases include electrical intake and transformer rooms, generator rooms, fuel and chemical stores, data and records rooms where the client wants extra protection, and walls between buildings or occupancies with a high fire resistance requirement.
Steel doorsets for longer ratings
Steel doorsets reach these ratings with insulated cores and specialised frames. They are heavy — a double FD120 doorset needs careful handling, solid fixings and a structural opening fit for the frame. Glazed options exist, but large areas of insulating fire glass are costly, so vision panels are usually kept small.
Pricing and lead times
Guide prices run from about £1,900 to £3,800 per single doorset supplied and fitted, ex VAT, with pairs costing more. These doors are normally made to order, so allow longer lead times than stock FD30 doorsets — we confirm the programme at survey.

FD90 and FD120 fire doors questions
Are FD120 doors always steel?
Most are, though some specialist timber and composite systems hold longer ratings. The evidence for the exact configuration is what counts.
Can FD120 doors have glass?
Yes, with insulating fire glass tested in that doorset, but panel size is usually limited.
Do these doors need panic hardware?
Only where they are on an escape route and the fire strategy calls for it. Panic hardware must be tested with the doorset.
How long do they take to make?
Usually several weeks as they are made to order. We confirm lead time on your quote.
