Where steel beats timber
Loading bays, bin stores, car parks, plant rooms and external doors take knocks that would damage a timber leaf. Steel doorsets stay square, keep their gaps and can carry heavy security hardware. They are also the usual route to 90 or 120-minute ratings.
Finishes and options
Steel doorsets are powder-coated in almost any RAL colour. Vision panels, kick plates, panic hardware and security locking are all available — within the combinations covered by each manufacturer's certification.
Fitting steel doorsets
Steel frames are fixed into the structural opening with the anchors and gap seals the manufacturer specifies. The structural opening has to be sound and square; we check this at survey and tell you if any builders' work is needed first.

Steel fire doors questions
Are steel fire doors better than timber?
Not better — different. Steel suits heavy-use, external and high-rating locations; timber suits most internal doors.
Can steel fire doors be painted?
They are factory powder-coated. Site painting is possible but must not cover seals.
How long can a steel fire door last in a fire?
Depending on the system, from 30 minutes up to four hours.
Can steel fire doors be used externally?
Yes. Many steel doorsets are designed for external use and weathering.
