Repair or replace?
Doors with known certification and minor faults — a failed closer, worn seals, loose hinges — can usually be repaired with approved parts. Doors with no identifiable certification, large gaps, damaged leaves or non-fire glass are usually better replaced: no amount of repair creates test evidence that doesn't exist.
How a replacement project runs
- We review your fire risk assessment or inspection findings, or survey the doors ourselves.
- Each door gets a schedule line: rating, size, hardware and the proposed certified doorset.
- You receive a fixed, itemised quote with certificate references.
- Doors are manufactured and fitted in planned phases, with the building secure and escape routes maintained.
- You receive a handover pack for your fire safety records.
Working with your inspector
If your doors were inspected by a third party, we work straight from their report. Our sister site firedoor-inspections.uk covers inspections and surveys; this site covers supplying and fitting the doorsets themselves.
Where are fire door replacement used?
- Doors failed at inspection
- Doors with no evidence of rating
- Regulation 10 remedial work
- Refurbishment programmes
Fire door replacement questions
How do I know if my fire door needs replacing?
Large or uneven gaps, missing or painted-over seals, a closer that doesn't latch the door, damage to the leaf or frame, ordinary glass, or no label or plug showing certification are all warning signs.
Can you replace just the door leaf?
Only if the existing frame is covered by the new leaf's evidence, which is uncommon. A complete doorset is usually needed.
How long does replacement take?
A single doorset usually takes a few hours to fit once manufactured. We'll give you the full programme on your quote.
What happens to the old doors?
We remove and dispose of them as part of the job.
