Security Fire Doors

Security fire doors are doorsets tested to resist both fire and forced entry. They combine a fire rating such as FD30 or FD60 with a security standard such as PAS 24 or LPS 1175 — and both certificates must cover the same configuration, including the lock, hinges and any glazing.

Guide price £1,600–£3,500 per single doorset, supplied & fitted, ex VAT. Fixed after survey.

Two tests, one door

Fire testing and security testing pull in different directions: security wants solid fixings and heavy locks, while fire performance depends on gaps, seals and hardware positions. A door certified for both has proved it can do both in one build. We quote only doorsets with both certificates.

Which security standard?

PAS 24 is the common standard for residential doors and is referenced by Approved Document Q. LPS 1175 grades resistance to attack by tool set and time and suits commercial risks such as pharmacies, IT rooms and cash handling. Your insurer may specify a grade.

Where are security fire doors used?

  • Flat entrance doors
  • Pharmacies and cash rooms
  • IT and comms rooms
  • Plant rooms with valuable equipment

Security fire doors questions

Can any fire door be made secure?

Adding security hardware to a fire door without evidence can void its fire rating. Choose a doorset certified for both.

Is PAS 24 required for flat front doors?

For new dwellings in England, Approved Document Q requires doorsets giving access to a dwelling to meet PAS 24 or equivalent.

Does my insurer need a specific rating?

Often for commercial premises. Tell us the grade and we'll propose a doorset certified to it.

Steel or timber?

Both are available; steel suits the higher LPS 1175 grades.
