Fire rated glazed screens in Tyne and Wear: how we work
Across Tyne and Wear we handle fire rated glazed screens for single doors and whole-building programmes alike — survey, fixed quote, certified doorsets and careful installation.
What the law says in Tyne and Wear
Fire doors in Tyne and Wear sit under English rules: Approved Document B sets what goes in, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 covers keeping doors effective in non-domestic premises and shared parts of residential buildings, and the 2022 regulations require regular door checks in residential buildings taller than 11 metres. Higher-risk buildings — 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes — also come under the Building Safety Act 2022.
What do fire rated glazed screens cost in Tyne and Wear?
Guide prices for fire rated glazed screens in Tyne and Wear run from about £1,400 to £4,500 per screen, supplied and fitted, ex VAT. Size, glazing, finish and ironmongery move the price, and the survey quote is fixed.
The biggest price drivers are leaf size, glazing, finish and ironmongery; upper floors without lifts and restricted parking can also affect fitting cost.

Common questions in Tyne and Wear

Yes. We phase work in occupied buildings and keep escape routes available. Each door is planned to be removed and replaced the same day; if that isn't possible, the opening is made secure and we tell you in advance.
Do you cover the whole of Tyne and Wear?
Yes. We survey, supply and fit fire rated glazed screens across Tyne and Wear, including Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland and South Shields.
How quickly can you survey in Tyne and Wear?
We arrange surveys around your access needs and, where possible, combine visits with other work in Tyne and Wear. Tell us your preferred dates when you enquire.
Can screens be added to an existing fire door?
Only as part of a tested or assessed assembly. Usually the door and screen are replaced together.
