Triage the findings
Separate quick fixes — adjusting closers, replacing damaged seals, refitting hinge screws — from doors that need replacement. Prioritise doors on the main escape route and any that don't close at all.
When replacement is the answer
Doors with no identifiable certification, structural damage, ordinary glass or oversized gaps rarely become compliant through repair. A certified doorset with installation records gives you something you can rely on and evidence.
Keeping records
Record each door, the issue found, the action taken and the date. Our handover pack gives you door-by-door records for replacements we fit, ready to add to your fire safety file.
Common questions
How quickly must failing fire doors be fixed?
The regulations don't set a fixed deadline, but faults should be addressed as soon as reasonably practicable, prioritised by risk.
Does regulation 10 apply in Wales or Scotland?
No — it applies in England. Other nations have their own fire safety legislation.
