Regulations for timber fire doors in Somerset

Fire doors in Yeovil sit under English rules: Approved Document B sets what goes in, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 covers keeping doors effective in non-domestic premises and shared parts of residential buildings, and the 2022 regulations require regular door checks in residential buildings taller than 11 metres. Higher-risk buildings — 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes — also come under the Building Safety Act 2022.

What do timber fire doors cost in Yeovil?

Guide prices for timber fire doors in Yeovil run from about £750 to £1,600 per single doorset, supplied and fitted, ex VAT. Size, glazing, finish and ironmongery move the price, and the survey quote is fixed.

The biggest price drivers are leaf size, glazing, finish and ironmongery; upper floors without lifts and restricted parking can also affect fitting cost.

Timber fire doors in Yeovil: questions

How quickly can you survey in Yeovil?

We arrange surveys around your access needs and, where possible, combine Yeovil visits with other work in Somerset. Tell us your preferred dates when you enquire.

Do you remove the old doors?

Yes. Removal and disposal of the old door and frame is included when we replace a doorset in Yeovil.

Can you work around tenants or staff in Yeovil?

Yes. We phase work in occupied buildings and keep escape routes available. Each door is planned to be removed and replaced the same day; if that isn't possible, the opening is made secure and we tell you in advance.

Can a timber fire door be trimmed on site?

Only within the limits the manufacturer's evidence allows, usually a few millimetres. We prefer made-to-measure doorsets so no trimming is needed.
