Timber fire doors in Taunton: how we work
Need timber fire doors in Taunton? We supply and fit complete certified doorsets across Somerset, starting with a free measure survey in and around TA1. Every quote lists each door, its rating and the manufacturer's certificate reference, so you know exactly what is going in before anything is ordered.
Our Somerset coverage includes Taunton and its neighbours Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea and Tiverton; tell us your postcode and preferred dates and we'll confirm a survey slot.
Which rules apply in Taunton?
Fire doors in Taunton sit under English rules: Approved Document B sets what goes in, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 covers keeping doors effective in non-domestic premises and shared parts of residential buildings, and the 2022 regulations require regular door checks in residential buildings taller than 11 metres. Higher-risk buildings — 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes — also come under the Building Safety Act 2022.
What do timber fire doors cost in Taunton?
Budget around £750 to £1,600 per single doorset for timber fire doors supplied and fitted in Taunton, excluding VAT. We price each opening separately so nothing is hidden in a lump sum.
Made-to-measure sizes for older openings, vision panels and upgraded hardware are the usual reasons a door sits towards the top of the range.

Questions about timber fire doors in Taunton
Can you work around tenants or staff in Taunton?
Yes. We phase work in occupied buildings and keep escape routes available. Each door is planned to be removed and replaced the same day; if that isn't possible, the opening is made secure and we tell you in advance.
Do you remove the old doors?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old door and frame is included when we replace a doorset in Taunton.
Is the survey in Taunton free?
Yes. We measure and schedule your doors at no cost and send a fixed, itemised quote.
Can a timber fire door be trimmed on site?
Only within the limits the manufacturer's evidence allows, usually a few millimetres. We prefer made-to-measure doorsets so no trimming is needed.
