Fire rated glazed screens in Ampthill: how we work
We cover Ampthill and nearby Bedford for fire rated glazed screens, with surveys booked around your building's access and occupancy. Each door is quoted individually, so you can see what every opening costs and why.
Ampthill is about 11 miles from Luton. Wherever your building is in MK45, we arrange survey and fitting dates around access and occupancy.
Which rules apply in Ampthill?
Because Ampthill is in England, the starting point is Approved Document B for the specification and the Fire Safety Order 2005 for ongoing duties. Blocks with a storey above 11 metres also fall under regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022: communal fire doors checked at least every three months, flat front doors at least every year.
Cost of fire rated glazed screens in Bedfordshire
Budget around £1,400 to £4,500 per screen for fire rated glazed screens supplied and fitted in Ampthill, excluding VAT. We price each opening separately so nothing is hidden in a lump sum.
We show each door's price separately, so if budget is tight you can phase the work and start with the doors your fire risk assessment prioritises.
Buildings that need fire rated glazed screens
Reception and lobby screens and corridor borrowed lights are among the most common settings for fire rated glazed screens, in Ampthill as elsewhere.
Bedfordshire mixes Luton's dense housing and town-centre flats with Bedford's Victorian terraces, many now converted to flats and HMOs.
- Reception and lobby screens
- Corridor borrowed lights

Questions about fire rated glazed screens in Ampthill
How quickly can you survey in Ampthill?
We arrange surveys around your access needs and, where possible, combine Ampthill visits with other work in Bedfordshire. Tell us your preferred dates when you enquire.
Will I get certificates for the doors fitted in Ampthill?
Every doorset is listed in your handover pack with the manufacturer's certificate reference, plus an installation record and photos.
Do you cover Ampthill?
Yes. We survey, supply and fit fire rated glazed screens throughout Ampthill and the rest of Bedfordshire, including MK45 and nearby Bedford.
Does a fanlight above a fire door need to be fire-rated?
Yes, if it is part of the fire-resisting wall or door assembly. Ordinary glass above a fire door defeats the door.
