What the law says in Kirkcaldy

Fire doors in Kirkcaldy follow Scottish building standards for new work, with the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 covering duties in workplaces and other non-domestic premises. Shared residential buildings may also be covered by licensing conditions, for example for HMOs.

Cost of timber fire doors in Fife

Budget around £750 to £1,600 per single doorset for timber fire doors supplied and fitted in Kirkcaldy, excluding VAT. We price each opening separately so nothing is hidden in a lump sum.

Each quote covers the certified doorset, standard ironmongery, fitting, removal of the old door and a handover record; anything outside that scope is shown as a separate line before you accept.

Questions about timber fire doors in Kirkcaldy

Do you work for landlords and managing agents in Kirkcaldy?

Yes. We can schedule doors flat by flat, send quotes per property and invoice the managing agent or freeholder.

Can you fit just one door in Kirkcaldy?

Yes — from a single door to a full building. Where possible, small jobs are scheduled alongside other visits in Fife.

Can you work around tenants or staff in Kirkcaldy?

Yes. We phase work in occupied buildings and keep escape routes available. Each door is planned to be removed and replaced the same day; if that isn't possible, the opening is made secure and we tell you in advance.

Can I paint a timber fire door?

Yes — but never paint over intumescent or smoke seals.
