What the law says in Blyth
Because Blyth is in England, the starting point is Approved Document B for the specification and the Fire Safety Order 2005 for ongoing duties. Blocks with a storey above 11 metres also fall under regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022: communal fire doors checked at least every three months, flat front doors at least every year.
Northumberland's main towns — Blyth, Cramlington, Ashington — mix new estates and industry with rural schools and care homes.

Questions about fire doors in Blyth
Can you work around tenants or staff in Blyth?
Yes. We phase work in occupied buildings and keep escape routes available. Each door is planned to be removed and replaced the same day; if that isn't possible, the opening is made secure and we tell you in advance.
Is the survey in Blyth free?
Yes. We measure and schedule your doors at no cost and send a fixed, itemised quote.
Can you fit just one door in Blyth?
Yes — from a single door to a full building. Where possible, small jobs are scheduled alongside other visits in Northumberland.
Do you remove the old doors?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old door and frame is included when we replace a doorset in Blyth.
